To run Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns on your behalf, we’ll need access to a Meta Ads account connected to your business. If you don’t have one yet, this guide walks you through creating one inside Meta Business Suite and then granting us access. The whole process takes about ten minutes.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following:

A Meta Business Suite account. This is where Meta centralizes all business assets — your Facebook Page, Instagram account, ad accounts, and more. If you already manage a Facebook Business Page, you likely already have one. You can check by going to business.facebook.com.

Admin access to your Meta Business Suite. Only Admins can create ad accounts and manage permissions. If you’re not sure about your access level, check with whoever originally set up your business’s Facebook Page or Business Suite.

You’ll be granting access to our Business Portfolio using this ID:

Designeo Business Portfolio ID: 795804875711880

Part 1: Creating a Meta Ads Account

If you already have a Meta Ads account and just need to grant us access, skip ahead to Part 2.

  1. Go to business.facebook.com and sign in with the account that has Admin access to your Business Suite.
  2. In the left-hand navigation, click Settings (the gear icon at the bottom).
  3. In the Settings menu, look under Accounts and click Ad accounts.
  4. Click the Add button, then select Create a new ad account.
  5. Give the ad account a name. Something simple like your business name works fine (e.g., “Your Business Name – Ads”). This is just an internal label and won’t be visible to customers.
  6. Set your time zone and currency. Choose these carefully because they can’t be changed after the account is created.
  7. Select My business (your business name) when asked who the ad account will be used for.
  8. Click Create.
  9. You’ll be prompted to add people and set permissions. You can skip this for now since we’ll handle access in Part 2.

Your Meta Ads account is now created. Before you can run ads, you’ll also need to add a payment method, which we’ll cover at the end of this guide.

Part 2: Giving Designeo Access to Your Ads Account

There are two ways to grant us access: through Partner sharing (recommended) or by adding us as users directly. Partner sharing is cleaner because it keeps our access scoped to the ad account without adding individual people to your Business Suite.

Option A: Partner Access (Recommended)

  1. From Meta Business Suite, click Settings (the gear icon in the left-hand navigation).
  2. Under Accounts, click Ad accounts.
  3. Select the ad account you’d like us to manage.
  4. Click the People and partners or Partners section.
  5. Click Add a partner.
  6. Enter our Business Portfolio ID: 795804875711880
  7. Toggle on Manage campaigns — this allows us to create, edit, and manage your ad campaigns.
  8. Optionally, also toggle on View performance if it isn’t included by default.
  9. Click Save changes or Confirm.
  10. Once you’ve added us, shoot us a quick email at [email protected] so we can confirm the connection on our end. We typically confirm within a few hours during business days.

Option B: Adding Individual Users

If you’d prefer to add a specific person from our team rather than connecting at the business level:

  1. From Meta Business Suite, go to Settings and then Ad accounts.
  2. Select the ad account.
  3. Under People and partners, click Add people.
  4. Enter the email address we provide you (we’ll share the specific team member’s email when you’re ready).
  5. Set the role to Ad account admin so we can fully manage campaigns, audiences, and reporting.
  6. Click Confirm.

We generally recommend Option A since it’s easier to manage long-term and keeps things organized if your team or ours changes over time.

Adding a Payment Method

If you just created your ad account, you’ll need to add a payment method before any campaigns can go live. We don’t handle billing setup on your behalf — your payment information stays entirely with you.

  1. From Meta Business Suite, go to Settings.
  2. Under the Billing and payments section (or navigate to Payments under your ad account settings), click Add payment method.
  3. Enter your credit card, debit card, or other accepted payment method.
  4. Click Save.

That’s it. Once the payment method is in place, we can start building and launching campaigns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you have access to my billing or payment information? No. Partner access and ad account management roles do not grant access to your payment methods, billing history, or financial details. Your billing stays private.

Can I remove access later? Absolutely. Go back to the Ad accounts section in Settings, select the account, and remove our partner connection or individual user access. It takes effect immediately.

What’s the difference between Meta Business Suite and Ads Manager? Meta Business Suite is the central hub where you manage all of your business assets on Meta — your Pages, Instagram, ad accounts, and more. Ads Manager is the tool within that ecosystem specifically for creating and managing ad campaigns. When you grant us access to your ad account through Business Suite, we’ll be working in Ads Manager day to day.

I already have an ad account but I’m not sure where it lives. It’s likely connected to either a personal Facebook profile or an existing Business Suite. Go to business.facebook.com, click Settings, and check under Ad accounts. If you see it listed there, you’re in the right place. If you don’t, it may be tied to a different Facebook login. Reach out and we’ll help you track it down.

Can I have more than one ad account? Yes. Meta allows businesses to create multiple ad accounts under a single Business Suite. This can be useful if you want to separate campaigns by brand, location, or objective. If you’re not sure whether you need more than one, we can advise on the best setup for your situation.

I’m getting an error when trying to create an ad account. Meta limits the number of ad accounts you can create based on your business’s spending history and account standing. New Business Suites typically start with a limit of one or two ad accounts. If you’re hitting a cap, reach out and we can help you figure out the best path forward.

What about my Facebook Page and Instagram account? Do you need access to those too? It depends on the scope of work. If we’re running ads only, ad account access is all we need. If we’re also managing organic social content, creating ads that use your Page or Instagram identity, or running engagement campaigns, we may need Page-level access as well. We’ll let you know exactly what we need based on your engagement.

What if I don’t have a Meta Business Suite at all? No problem. We can walk you through setting one up, or we can create the Business Suite and ad account structure for you. Just reach out at [email protected] and we’ll get everything in place.
